VAT Accountant

This is a great opportunity for a part qualified VAT Accountant to join this innovative and multibillion turnover market leader.  Reporting to the Senior VAT Accountant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant VAT reporting across UK and European operations.

• Location: Greater Manchester (3 days in the office).
  Permanent | Hours: 37.5 per week.
• Competitive Salary £40,000 to £45,000 per annum plus Bonus (discretionary) & Benefits Package.

 As VAT Accountant key responsibilities will include:

• Prepare, validate, and submit monthly and quarterly UK and European VAT reports, including Intrastat and ESCL.
• Support additional UK VAT reporting such as import VAT, self-billing, and supply VAT.
• Reconcile VAT balance sheet accounts, post VAT journals, and maintain ledger accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with evolving VAT legislation and new business activities.
• Build strong working relationships across Finance and wider business teams.
• Drive process improvements to enhance reporting quality and efficiency.
• Support VAT audits, respond to queries, and mentor the Assistant VAT Accountant.

To be successful as VAT Accountant, you will have the following skills and experience:

• Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA, ATT, CIMA, AAT).
• Proven experience in UK and European VAT.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A curious, solutions-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
